The Renovation of the Greens at Golf Son Vida: Innovation and Quality in Every Putt

Since January 7th, Golf Son Vida has been undergoing an ambitious greens renovation project on holes 10 through 18 to provide faster, more consistent, and more sustainable playing surfaces. After five weeks of intensive work, we have successfully introduced the Agrostis 007 grass variety, known for its high density, resistance to foot traffic, and ability to withstand turf diseases—making it the optimal choice for our resort.

What Makes the 007 Variety Special?

The 007 Agrostis is an exceptional grass variety, specifically designed to resist the most common golf course diseases.

Additionally, this variety stands out for:

• Greater resistance and reduced chemical use: Allows up to a 50% reduction in fungicide and herbicide use compared to older varieties.
• Excellent tolerance to traffic and climate: Maintains active growth in cold climates without turning purple in winter.
• Outstanding playing quality: Its ability to remain firm at extremely low cutting heights ensures an exceptional putting surface.
• Sustainability and lower water consumption: Its water efficiency contributes to a more environmentally responsible maintenance approach.

Step-by-Step Renovation Process

To ensure the best results, we followed a meticulous renovation process:

1.  Removal of the previous turf and 15 cm of sand, followed by the addition of USGA-specified materials and a redesign of the green contours.
2. Seeding and establishment of the new variety, ensuring proper adaptation and growth.
3. Intensive care during the initial weeks, allowing the turf to take root and achieve optimal density and firmness.
