The skies cleared to reveal the grass at Son Muntaner Golf Club for a new edition of the classic Cope Mallorca golf tournament. The XXIX Cope Golf Tournament proceeded smoothly, despite the threatening skies from the day before.
This year’s 200 participants set a new record in one of the Balearic Islands’ most prestigious tournaments, as noted by Bernardino Jaume, president of the Balearic Golf Federation. The event was a reunion of Cope with its golf-loving listeners, where competitive spirit and the joy of gathering took center stage at Son Muntaner, one of the archipelago’s premier courses.
With two shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the Scratch victory went to Francisco Cifre Salleras and Miguel Ángel Delgado García, scoring 34 points. However, the most spectacular moment came with a hole-in-one, a rare feat, achieved by Verónica Iboleón on the 11th hole.
In the male pairs category, Álex Corral and Marc Rodríguez won with 47 points, while the female pairs category was topped by María Marcelina Sobrino and Dolores Galán with 39 points. In the seniors’ category, Alejandro Sicilia and Elena Llompart claimed the first spot with 46 points.
Jeroni Colom and Isabel Midelmann won the longest drive on the 9th hole. The closest-to-the-pin award on the 13th hole went to Margarita Pizá, at 1.9m, and Marc Rodríguez, at 0.18m. The tournament was also supported by excellent catering, courtesy of chef Macarena de Castro.
The trophy ceremony featured a traditional raffle with prizes including hotel stays, trips, tickets for the Sóller train, boat excursions, and gift sets from José Luis Ferrer and Licores Moyá, creating a lively atmosphere.
