A Public Acknowledgment of Excellence
Open public voting confirms Mallorca’s flagship course as a favourite among golfers, holidaymakers and industry professionals, affirming Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca’s position as a leading European golf destination.
Son Muntaner, the championship flagship course at Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca, has been named Spain’s Best Golf Course at the 2025 World Golf Awards.
This prestigious recognition, decided entirely by public vote from international golfers, holidaymakers, and the wider golf industry, powerfully highlights the course’s status as a top-tier European destination and a clear favourite among players.
Bernat Llobera, Director of Golf at Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca, said: “To be chosen as Spain’s best by public vote is a tremendous honour. It acknowledges the championship quality of the course, from the inspired design to our cutting-edge sustainability work. This recognition is for the entire Arabella team, confirming our position not just as a beautiful course, but as a leader in Spanish golf.”
As part of European Tour Destinations, a network of world class venues, Son Muntaner embodies the essence of Mediterranean golf. The course combines true championship pedigree, having hosted the DP World Tour’s 2022 Mallorca Golf Open and the 2023 Mallorca Ladies Golf Open on the Ladies European Tour, with refined service and stunning scenery.
Designed by German architect Kurt Rossknecht and opened in 2000, the 7,000-yard course features two seamlessly linked loops of nine, blending strategic design with Mallorca’s natural contours. From historic stone dykes and subtle elevation changes to unique hourglass-shaped greens, each hole demands precision and creativity from the player.
Son Muntaner continues to set the benchmark for quality and innovation. Recent enhancements include a new fleet of electric buggies and the introduction of TopTracer technology at the driving range, all reinforcing the resort’s dedication to outstanding playing conditions and guest experience.
Under the pioneering ‘Green Evolution’ strategic plan, the course is a leader in environmental stewardship. It uses 100% reclaimed and regenerated water for irrigation and was Europe’s first to adopt Celebration Bermudagrass, a drought-tolerant turf that significantly reduces water use while maintaining premium playability year-round.
As part of Arabella Golf Resort Mallorca, the Mediterranean’s premier golf destination, Son Muntaner sits within a comprehensive 63-hole golf experience that combines world-class golf, luxury hospitality, and authentic island living.
The resort includes three 18-hole championship courses, a 9-hole short course, a golf academy, and two luxurious hotels: Castillo Hotel Son Vida and Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel.
Both properties provide outstanding accommodations, fine dining, spa facilities, and an array of recreational activities, all set within an idyllic landscape just minutes from Palma’s international airport.
